Bio

Charlie Jackson Roberts, 88, longtime resident of Duncan passed away on Friday, Feb. 17th at Duncan Regional Hospital. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017 at Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Jack Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Monday, 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Charlie was born March 11, 1928 at Wilson, OK to John P. and Mannie (Young) Roberts. He was the last of eleven children born to this union. He married Ardyth Jean Simmons on July 10, 1948 and she preceded him in death on July 16, 2004. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the US Army, retired from Samedan Oil Co. and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Charlie is survived by his son; Gregory C. Roberts and wife Carol of Velma, OK and four grandchildren; John, James Jasa and Josh Roberts, three great grandchildren; Billy, Jazmine and Luke Roberts, two nieces who were raised like sisters; Jac Waller and Georgia Bolles both of Ardmore, OK and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mannie Roberts, his wife of 56 years Ardyth Roberts and ten brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be John Roberts, James Roberts, Josh Roberts, Tommy Matthews, Clyde Matthews and Joe Matthews. Honorary bearers will be the Deacons of Immanuel Baptist Church.
