She was born in Harleton, Texas, on May 23, 1912, to A.L. and Clemie Wilcox. She was the sixth of nine children of which three brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. One sister, Sadie Drennan of Freer, Texas, survives her. Brownie married Lee Roy Hulsey in 1929, in Post, Texas. They had two children, Dollie Lois Hulsey Cash and Jack Gordon Hulsey. As a young couple, they moved wherever they could find work, finally arriving in 1952 in Abilene, where they lived many years. In 1962, the couple moved to Hawley, where Lee Roy passed away. Brownie moved in the early 1970's to Perrin, Texas, to be near her daughter. In 2004, she moved to Kodiak, Alaska to be near her son who was diagnosed with cancer. Brownie was preceded in death by her husband, Lee, in June, 1969; daughter Dollie on December 26, 1988; and son, Jack on October 29, 2005. She will always be remembered by her seven grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and loved ones who will always cherish her memory.
