Bio

Rev. Father Raymond Roh, O.S.B. Cam., was ordained a Catholic priest for the Diocese of Lincoln, Nebraska, on May 16, 1959, and he later served as Superintendent of Schools for the Lincoln Diocese. Discerning a call to monastic life, he entered the Order of St. Benedict at Our Lady of Guadalupe Abbey in Pecos, New Mexico, professing solemn vows in 1980. Drawn to the Charismatic Renewal, he led the abbey's School for Spiritual Direction for several years. In 1987, he was sent to San Luis Obispo, California, to establish the Monastery of the Risen Christ, which became an independent priory in 1999. In 2012, faced with declining numbers, the monastery changed affiliation from the Olivetan Benedictine Congregation to the Camaldolese Benedictine Congregation, a process which was approved and blessed at New Camaldoli Hermitage, Big Sur, in January of 2017, just weeks before Fr. Ray's death at age 84.
