Son of Fred and Magdalen (Janisch) Veit. - - - - - Funeral services for Victor David Veit of Corpus Christi were Wednesday, November 15 with a Funeral Mass celebrated at SS. Cyril and Methodius' Catholic Church in Corpus Christi. Burial, with full military honors was in Seaside Memorial Park. The rosary was recited Tuesday, November 14 at the Clifford Funeral Home Chapel on Kostoryz. Mr. Veit died Sunday, November 12, 1972 at his home. Mr. Veit, one of 14 children, was born March 23, 1921 at Shiner, Lavaca County, Texas, son of Fred and Magdalene (Janisch) Veit. The family farmed in the Boundry Line and Green School communities before moving in 1942 to Corpus Christi. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II and was an independent insurance agent. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lorene Veit; six daughters; one son; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Fred Veit, all of Corpus Christi; five brothers, Max Veit of Bulverde, Johnny, Henry, and Jerry Veit, all of Houston, Daniel Veit of Shiner; seven sisters, Mrs. W. P. (Gladys) Morgan, Mrs. Vance (Lillian) Shaffer, Sr., Mrs. Joe (Benita) Kosarek all of Corpus Christi, Mrs. George (Marion) Malik of Robstown, Mrs. Bennie (Frieda) Malik of Victoria, Mrs. Doris Flemming of Houston, Mrs. Charles (Susan) Tracey of Illinois; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Pfc. Freddie Joe Veit, who was missing in action and presumed dead as of November 28, 1950 in the Korean War in that country.
