Shaffer, Sr., five children, Vance W. Shaffer, Jr. and wife, Mary, Lana D. Hawkins, Karen S. Criner, and husband, Rich, Brian K. Shaffer, and Derick W. Shaffer and wife, Yvette; ten grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. Also survived by three brothers, Daniel Veit, Henry Veit, and Jerry Veit, and five sisters, Gladys Morgan, Frieda Malik, Doris Shoulders, Mary Ann Malik, and Susan Tracy. Rite of committal at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas
