Dennis Valton Childress 2/21/1953- 2/8/2017 Funeral services for Dennis Valton Childress, 63 of Brownwood, will be held on Saturday Feb. 11, at 2 PM and visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 PM at Heartland Funeral Home. Dennis was born on February 21, 1953 to Jack and Pat Childress in Abilene, Texas. Dennis had many adventures during his life time. Dennis was very proud of his service in the U. S. Marines. Dennis and Martha were foster parents to numerous children through the years. He was a two time State Champion in pitching Horse shoes. He also enjoyed fishing, guns and playing cards. Dennis will be missed by hi little four legged friend Millie. Dennis was working as a medical courier for Brownwood regional Medical Center. He was a member of Milton Avenue Baptist Church. Dennis fought a long hard battle with cancer. He was very brave during this time. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 26 years Martha Moore Childress. His children, Steven Childress and wife Shelley of Abilene, Jason Childress and wife Katarina of Haslet and Jennifer Langwell of Lubbock and husband Charley. Step Childress Joe Medley and wife Darla of Santa Anna, Tim Buris and wife Jeannette of Brownwood, Vicki Waddle and fiancé David Ehlers of Tahoka, Stephanie Pack and husband Clint of Brownwood and Carrie Wheat and husband Chris of Lake Brownwood. Dennis has 18 grandkids and 7 great grandkids. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Sisters Judy Ratliff, Pat Horton, Jean Howard and one brother Bill Childress. The family would like to thank the staff at Solaris Health Care, The Walker Cancer Center and Dr. Amy Tindol. He is also survived by a brother, Jimmy Childress and wife Judy.
