Bio

Patrick F. Curran, age 84, of Albion, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Boone County Health Center in Albion. He was born the son of John T. and Eleanor (Sohler) Curran, on May 26, 1932, in Albion, Nebraska. Patrick was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion. He received his education at the Albion Public School and graduated from there in 1950. Following his high school education, Patrick attended college at the Norfolk Junior College in Norfolk, Nebraska for one semester before enlisting in the United States Navy. Patrick faithfully served as a corpsman during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on March 31, 1958. Following his honorable discharge, Patrick returned home to Albion, where he was very involved in community service. Patrick was very well known for tending to the Goodwill donation trailer when it was in town, taking tickets at ball games and the Albion Senior Center, as well as helping with weekly bingo games put on by the Knights of Columbus. He was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1739 in Albion, the American Legion Post #162 and V.F.W. Post #736, both of Albion. Patrick also enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years, had a lifelong fascination with all kinds of trains, and was a kind, and true, gentleman. Patrick will be remembered for volunteering countless hours of his time to the organizations that he was involved in and which meant so much to him. Left to cherish his memory are: his siblings, Fr. William Curran, M.AFR., Mary Ellen (Dean) Diederich, Pauline (Matt) Bartek, John T. (Christine) Curran; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Patrick was preceded in death by: his parents; and nephew, Brian Diederich. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2017 at St. Michael's Church in Albion. Interment at the parish cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post #162 and V.F.W. Post #736. Obituary information from Levander Funeral Home of Albion, Nebraska.
