KENESAW — Joyce E. Lemburg, 93, of Kenesaw, formerly of Farwell, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, at Premier Estates in Kenesaw. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Robert Carlson Jr. will officiate. Interment will be in Kelso Cemetery near Farwell. Mrs. Lemburg was born April 15, 1923, at the family farm home outside of Nysted to Peter Marten and Helen (Nielsen) Mortensen. Joyce graduated from Dannebrog High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Gilbert Peter Lemburg of Boelus in 1945. The couple farmed most of their married life south of Farwell where they raised their five sons. Joyce was a beloved grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Joyce loved life, her Lord, family, being a farm wife, laughter, dancing and playing cards. Later in her life, at almost 94 years of age, she loved teasing and talking about the weather. She often said that she had a good life. Left to celebrate her life are sons and daughters-in-law, Neal and Sue Lemburg, Jerry Lemburg, Warren and Jan Lemburg, Judy Lemburg, and Deb Lemburg; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clyde Mortensen; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter Marten and Helen Mortensen; husband, Gilbert; two sons, Gary Lee and Dallas; two granddaughters, Mindi and Jessica; an older brother, Neils; and a twin sister, Kate.
