Bio

Vera Catherine Tiemeier, 93, of Burlington, died at 1:35 PM, Thursday, November 10, 2005, at the Great River Medical Center Klein Center. She was a lifelong resident of Burlington. Born March 30, 1912, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Walter E. and Louise Miller Tiemeier. She never married. She was a secretary for 12 years at Murray Iron Works and then 32 years for the Department of the Army at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. She retired in 1972. She was a graduate of St. John's High School and took courses at the Burlington College of Commerce. She was a lifelong member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, golfing and visiting with family and friends. Survivors include two brothers, James (Betty) Tiemeier and Richard (Janet) Tiemeier, both of Burlington; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Walter, one niece, Jeannie, and one nephew, David. Visitation will begin after noon, Sunday, November 13, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home where the family will receive friends following a 7:00 PM Rosary until 8:00 PM. The Mass of the Resurrection for Miss Tiemeier will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 14, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Patrick J. Hilgendorf as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A memorial has been established for SS. John & Paul Catholic Church.
