Funeral service for D. G. (Bud) Stover, pioneer ranchman who died at his home here Friday morning, was held at the Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church. Death followed a three month illness which resulted from an attack of influenza. David Gaines stover was born December 8, 1855, at Elizabethtown, teen. his early education was received in the home of his parents under the tutelage of a governess and he later attended school at the old Elizabethtown Academy. Coming to Texas in 1874, he first settled at Handley, in Tarrant County, Where he formed a partnership with W. S. Tipton in the Mercantile business. Later Mr. Stover entered the cattle business with George Beggs. In 1878 he came to Stephens County and bought a ranch on the Clear Fork river, maintaining the property until his death. He was married to Nannie Williams near Crystal Falls, o may 16, 19090. Seventeen years later he moved his family to Albany for the benefit of the schools, returning to his ranch home during the summer months. He retired from active in 1926 and since that time has made his permanent home here. Mr. Stover united with the Presbyterian church at Newcastle thirty years ago and remained a faithful member the rest of his life. It was said of him by those who knew him best that he dealt honestly and justly with his fellow and and walked humbly before his God. PARENTS; David Lincoln Stover, Joanna Narissa Gaines
