Bio

Larry Joe Martinka, Sr. passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021. He was born on Monday, June 17, 1946 in Taylor, Texas. He married Katherine Brosch on September 29, 1972. Larry served for 4 years in the United States Air Force from 1965-1969. He received an honorable discharge on February 26, 1971. After 25 years of working at Floyd's Glass, he retired. His favorite past-time things to do was spend time with his grandchildren, fishing at his tank, making arrowheads, and scratching lottery tickets. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha (Kaderka) Martinka and Pete Andrew Martinka, two brother in-laws, Sonny Tomlinson and Joe Williams, nephew David Tomlinson and a great grandson Houston Randolph. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Martinka, daughters Nancy Manshack and husband Keith of Converse, Louisiana, Candace Martinka and significant other James of Georgetown, son Larry Martinka, Jr. and wife Ashley of Taylor, sisters Georgie Kleibrink and husband Ron of Haslet, Texas, Barbara Oswald of Crawford, Texas, a brother, Pete Martinka and wife Linda of Crawford, Texas. Left to cherish his memory are 17 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Pall bearers will be Christopher Martinka-May, Tyler Williams, Eddie Martinka, Jason Martinka, Dusty Harrison, Ricky Williams, and Anthony Knapek. Honorary pall bearers will be Tanner Martinka, Channing Martinka, Vivienne Martinka, Aiden Martinka, Archie Steglich and Clyde Steglich. A visitation with the family will take place on Monday, August 9, 2021 from 6-8 pm with the Rosary beginning at 7 pm at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown. The Funeral Mass will be held at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 beginning at 2 pm, with the burial immediately following at Calvary Cemetery.
