Ruth Babka of Columbus died Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Brookestone Acres. Ruth Babka was born August 17, 1928 in Columbus to Emil and Anna (Borchers) Olson. She grew up in Columbus where she graduated from Kramer High School in 1946. Ruth worked various jobs as a secretary and met her future husband, Leonard Babka, while working at Hadley-Braithwait. They were united in marriage on August 23, 1957 in Columbus. Ruth worked at Becton Dickinson and later in the insurance department at Columbus Community Hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and served on many committees and circles. Ruth loved to garden, visit with friends, and most importantly, spending time with her grandkids. She is survived by: Daughter Ethel (Jeff) Pekarek of Columbus Grandchildren Craig and Amy Pekarek of Lincoln Brother Virgil (Jan) Olson of Louisville, CO Sister-in-law Barb Olson of Arvada, CO Sister-in-law Shirley Babka of Dubuque, IA Sister-in-law Virginia Babka of Monterey, CA Many nieces, nephews, and cousins She is preceded in death by: Husband Leonard Babka Son Bill Babka Parents Emil and Anna Olson Brothers: Clifford, Willard, George, and Darold Olson Sister Betty Vlasak Memorials are suggested to the donors choice.
