Bio
Mary Ann Krell was born in May 1875, in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota, to Jacob and Josephine Yita (Zetah) Krell. On 13 February 1896, she married Joseph Peter Serbus, the son of Jan (John) and Rosile (Rose) Brtek Serbus, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn. Mary Ann and Joseph Peter had two daughters, Grace and Rose Marie. The family lived in Bechyn for many years where Joseph operated a store and served as the first Postmaster of Bechyn. In 1910, the family moved family to Detroit Lakes where Joseph worked in real estate. Mary Ann Krell Serbus died on 23 December 1951, in Detroit Lakes, Becker County, Minnesota. She was survived by her husband, Joseph Peter; and her two daughters, Grace Serbus Setzer of Seattle, Washington; and, Rose Marie Serbus Clancy of Portland, Oregon. The funeral service for Mary Ann was held in Detroit Lakes and burial followed in the Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery in Renville, Renville County, Minnesota.
