State Patrolman Joe Avon said the auto was traveling at u high rate of speed and failed to make a curve. Tile cur skidded underneath the truck. The accident took the lives of Raymond Arthur Eldridge, 25 Dallas; Mrs.Mattie Dyccs, 82 Greenville, Tex.; Johnnie Glym Cheek of Lovington, 10; and Michael Lynn Cheek, 7. ELDRIDGE) Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Dees, 82, of this city, and grandson, Raymond Arthur (Sonny) Eldridge, 25, Dallas, who were killed instantly about 10 o'clock Saturday morning when the car in which they were riding ran under the bed of a grain truck on a curve near Hobbs, New Mexico, will be held at the Walnut Street Church of Christ Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. H.Osby Weaver, minister of the Johnson Street Church of Christ, will conduct the services and burial will be in Forest Park cemetery. The bodies were brought to Greenville this morning by the James-Coker-Peters Funeral Home and will rest at the funeral home until time for the service. Pallbearers for Mrs. Dees will be Hub Huffaker, Keith Meadows, Edgar Money, Margin Dees, Price Rainey and Cary Wicker. Names as pallbearers for Eldridge are Richard Poteet, Kenneth Poteet, Avon Poteet, Lloyd Garrett, Rufus Compton, and Billy Burns. Fatally injured in the accident which took the lives of Mrs. Dees and Eldridge, was another grandson of Mrs. Dees, Johnny Glynn Cheek, 10. Another grandson, Michael Lynn Cheek, died from injuries received in the accident and a double funeral service was held today at Lovington, New Mexico. Mrs. Dees was born April 28, 1870 and made her home with her son, Marion Dees of Greenville. She is survived by three sons, Roy and Marion Dees of this city, L.Wren Dees of Dallas, and one daughter, Mrs. P.C. Hill of Dallas. Eldridge who was born December 28, 1927, is survived by his mother, Mrs. P.C. Hill of Dallas, and his father, Charlie Eldridge of Austin, and a sister, Mrs. Nathaline Cheek of Lovington, New Mexico.
