Larry was born to Max and Hattie (Bartos) Osentowski on December 10, 1942 in Elyria, Nebraska. He was raised on the family farm and received his education in Ord, Nebraska and graduated from Ord High School in Ord, Nebraska in May of 1961. In 1963, while working road construction in McCook, Nebraska, Larry met Karen Younger. On April 21, 1964 they were married in Wichita Fall, TX where Larry was attending tech school for the United States Air Force. Larry was drafted in early 1961 by the Army but joined the Air Force. After graduating basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX he moved to attend a tech school in Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX. During his Air For career, as a Crew Chief and aircraft maintainer, Larry was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Valparaiso, FL, Peterson Field Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO, Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tuscon, AZ, and Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, OK where he retired in 1988. After retiring from the Air Force he worked for Sterling Services at Tinker Air Force Base until 2011. Her served two tours in Vietnam, 1966-1967 and 1970-1971. By the end of his career he earned 5 air medals along with many other medals and accommodations, to include a Distinguished Flying Cross. Larry loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed his grand kids and great grand kids. He took pleasure in watching Westerns, listening to country music telling stories, fishing building birdhouse, working in the yard, a cup of black coffee and the occasional McDonald's crispy french fry. Larry's ability to make everyone laugh and feel comfortable in his presence was refreshing. Anyone fortunate to have crossed paths or been a part of his life were the better for it. Larry was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Karen Osentowski of Choctaw, OK, one daughter, Sherry Black of Choctaw, OK; two sons: Larry Osentowski, Jr. of Choctaw, OK, and David Osentowski of Yukon, OK; three brothers, Ron (Doris) of Tahlequah, OK, Gary (Leslie) of Ord, NE and Gaylen (Marty) of Whitman, NE; 1 niece, three nephews, 12 grand kids and 12 great grand kids.
