Bio

ORD — Hattie E. Osentowski, 97, of Ord passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016, at the Valley County System Hospital in Ord. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. The Rev. Mark Maresh will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Hattie was born June 10, 1919, to Frank and Emma (Hejsek) Bartos on the family farm east of Elyria in Garfield County. She was raised on the farm and received her education at Pleasant View District 20 Country School. As a young lady, Hattie worked in Burwell for Dr. Cram. While attending a dance she met Max Osentowski. The couple was united in marriage on Oct. 8, 1940, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Elyria. They made their home on the farm west of Elyria, where they farmed and fed cattle. In 1974, they retired and moved into Ord. Mr. Osentowski passed away on Oct. 18, 1981. Hattie remained in Ord and moved to Grandview Assisted Living in 2010. Hattie was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She enjoyed polka music, cooking, and quilting. Hattie loved the outdoors, working in the yard, flowers, and fishing and camping. Survivors include four sons, Larry and Karen of Oklahoma City, Okla., Ron and Doris of Tahlequah, Okla., Gary and Leslie of Ord and Gaylen and Marty of Whitman; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max; a brother, Eddie; and three sisters, Libby, Alice and Bethene.
