Bio

He was married to Carrie S. Lasater December 8, 1870, who passed away in the year of 1918. To this union was born eleven children, three sons and eight daughters all surviving except one child. Ellen F. who died in infancy,. The living children are; Mrs. Minnie Weischedel of Pomona, Calif.; William H. of North Loup; Thomas B, of McGrew, Neb.; Mrs. Tina B. Feale, Casper, Wyoming; George I. of Wadena, Iowa; Mrs. Agnes Pratt, Mrs. Bessie Vincent, Mrs. Pearl Shirley, Mrs. Maude Lunney and Mrs. Sadie Bresley of Ord. There are thirty eight grand children and several great grand children. About 28 years ago Mr. Lane joined the First Christian church of which he was a faithful member at the time of his death. Mr. and Mrs. Lane spent their early married life in Illinois and Iowa moving to South Dakota about the year 1882 where they braved hardships of the early settlers in this at that time, a new country coming to Valley county in 1890 where he has since resided. Thomas B. Lane, a corporal of Captain Chas. H. Sweeney, company B 119 Regiment of Illinois, Infantry Volunteers who was enrolled on the 2nd day of August, 1862 to serve during the Civil war. He received his honorable discharge on August 24,1865 at Mobile, Ala., having served for three years. He was a member of the G.A.R.
