Bio

ERICSON — Lee Loseke, 83, of Ericson passed away on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Ericson United Methodist Church. Pastor John Ryding will officiate.Burial will be in the Bartlett Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 107. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangement. Lee was born on Sept. 26, 1933, at Creston to Conrad “Sam” and Inez (Binder) Loseke. When he was a young boy, his family moved to Ewing and later to Newport in 1946 until 1947, when they moved to Ericson. Lee graduated from Ericson High School in 1952. Following high school, Lee served in the United States Army for two years. He was discharged in 1955 and returned to Ericson. On June 2, 1958, Lee was united in marriage to Janice R. Harnapp at the Lutheran Church in Albion. The couple made their first home south of Spalding. In the fall of 1973, they moved south of Ericson, where they farmed and ranched. In October 2010, Lee had his retirement equipment sale, and the couple moved into Ericson in 2011. Lee was a member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church of Bartlett. He belonged to the Rae Valley Heritage Association and the Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club. He had a love for collecting antique Caterpillars and old things to weld or fix up. He was a history buff and had an interest in older airplanes and trains. Lee enjoyed water skiing and raising watermelons. Lee listened to polka music and enjoyed polka dancing with Janice. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Galen and Elizabeth Loseke of Kearney and Mark and Lori Loseke of Minden; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Eric Hadenfeldt of Lincoln and Susan and Greg Gehl of Ericson; nine grandchildren, Ethan and Hannah Loseke, Sydney McKay and her husband, Jace, Kodi and Neleigh Gehl, Zachary and Seth Hadenfeldt and Levi and Laci Loseke; a nephew, Brian Scafuri; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eugene and Betty Harnapp of Spalding and Rick and Carlene Scafuri of Palatine, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janice, who passed away on Nov. 3, 2016; and an infant brother, Carl John Loseke.
