Bio

Minnie was the oldest child of Mike and Belle Bridges. She committed suicide at the age of 14 years and is buried next to her parents. Her obituary was published in The Ellensburg Dawn, Friday, Dec. 8, 1899, page 1: TIRED OF LIFE. Little Minnie Bridges Takes Carbolic Acid. Wednesday morning the people of this city were very much surprised to learn that Miss Minnie Bridges had the evening before taken about two ounces of carbolic acid, from the effects of which she died shortly after. The real cause is supposed to be the request of her parents to remain indoors instead of attending the Fair that opened Tuesday evening, as she was not well and had not been for several months She did not care much to go and never returned a word when asked to remain in. After the evenings work was done some friends called in and asked her to go to which she consented, dressed and curled her hair, but concluded to remain at home. About 8 o'clock she went into the pantry and got a small bottle of carbolic acid and drank about two ounces. She went into the room where her mother was and informed her that she had taken some poison and was sorry for it. Shortly she grew sick and Dr. Mahan was sent for but could administer no antidote and in half an hour she was a corpse. Minnie was about 15 years of age and was a nice respectable young lady. The funeral took place from the M. E. church Thursday at 11:30 a.m.
