Louis Grandmason, 92, of Hudson and formerly of Oshkosh died Thursday, March 22, at the Christian Community Home in Hudson. Louis was born on June 9, 1914, in Ashland, the son of Adolph and Alvina (Cotty) Grandmason. He was raised in Ashland where he graduated from DePadua High School. Following this, he enlisted in the Armed Forces where he proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. While serving in Australia, he would meet his future soul mate. On Aug. 19, 1944, he was united in marriage to Iris Dack at St. Mark's Church of England in Melbourne, Australia. Together they embarked on a 62-year friendship and companionship. They lived in Iron River, Mich., for many years where he worked as a miner and later a broker for mutual funds. They moved to Oshkosh where he became an insurance agent for the Catholic Knights Insurance Society. Louis' love, besides family, was a fairway on a sunny summer day as he thoroughly enjoyed golfing. He also enjoyed hunting, archery and fishing earlier in life. He was also a handyman who was talented and could fix most anything and was a gifted woodworker. Louis will remain in the hearts of his wife, Iris; children, Robyn (Dave) Borchart of Hudson, Martin Grandmason of Saginaw, Mich., Phillip Grandmason of Northglenn, Colo., John (Sherol) Grandmason of Coshocton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Danielle and Samantha Borchart, Matthew and Nicole Grandmason; a sister, Vivian Blake of Milwaukee; and a foster sister, Virginia Wright of Ashland. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Eileen Regner, Elaine Shorkey and half sister Eva Beauto. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Monday, March 26, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hudson. Burial was in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church Cemetery.
