Edwin Walter Ponec Obituary Ed passed away on December 30, 2016 in Shafter, CA, after a short illness. Ed was a WWII Navy veteran and a heavy equipment mechanic in the Kern area for over 40 years. He is survived by his brother, James (Ann) Ponec of Omaha, NE; his three children, Kathryn Ervin of Glennville CA, Helen (David) Beard of Braselton, GA, and Patrick (Jeanne) Ponec of Bakersfield, CA; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Beverly L. Ponec; his parents, Frank and Regina Ponec; brother, Earnest Ponec; and sister, Dorothy Cisar; and his son-in-law, Dennis Ervin. The family would like to thank the staff of Carrington of Shafter and Hoffmann Hospice for their loving care of our father. A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday January 6, 2017 at Greenlawn Memorial Park Northeast.
