Bio
Cleta Marie Holt of Marietta, OK has completed her lifelong journey and was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 2, 2017, at the age of 96 years, three months and three days. The daughter of Virgil Preston and Vera Pauline (Leeper) Barber, Marie was born in Marietta on September 29, 1920. She passed away in Southbrook Healthcare Facility in Ardmore, OK, her home for the past four years. Marie and Glenn Gardner Holt were married in Madill, OK on March 19, 1941, and he preceded her in death on January 2, 1988. The couple was blessed with seven children, two daughters and five sons. Marie loved her family and was a faithful Christian for over 75 years, attending Pentecostal and Assembly of God Churches in Marietta and Ardmore. She was a waitress and cook in local restaurants in addition to caring for her family. When Marie was in good health she enjoyed family reunions, cooking large dinners, singing gospel songs, arts and crafts, quilting, raising vegetable and flower gardens, and canning fruits and vegetables, but most of all she loved her Lord and Saviour, reading her bible, and attending church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn Holt; daughter, Glenda Christine Holt Collins; three brothers, John C. Barber, Wilford (Bill) Barber, and George Earl Barber; and half-brother, Paul Edward Cranmore. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty Marie and Carroll Kemplin of Ardmore; five sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn Edward and Janet Holt of Tulsa, OK, James Paul and Viola Holt of Marietta, John David and Jan Holt of Seagoville, TX, Ronnie Preston and Charlene Holt of Stanton, CA, and Cecil Everett and Jeannie Holt, also of Marietta; a sister, Mary Lou Lombardo of Los Molinos, CA; 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Serving as casket bearers are Ray Elliott, Richard Barber, Paul Barber, Jason Harrison, Lee Siller, and Clinton Holt.
