Son of John & Helen (Karam) Shada. Grew up in Kearney, graduated from Kearney High School, 1943. Military: U.S. Army Air Corps, 1943-194, veteran of World War II. Returned from the war, attended Kearney State College, graduated, 1949 with teaching degree in industrial arts Married: March 7, 1953 to Beverly Kenney in Grand Island Was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years; retired, 1980. Worked at Bryant Elementary School for 10 years, then did volunteer work at the Kearney Police Department Activities: member of St. George Orthodox Church in Kearney, Kearney Elks Lodge 984, VFW Post 759 and the National Association of Letter Carriers, having served as state president; was a blood donor for many years, donating more than 22 gallons; enjoyed gardening, fishing, and being with family, especially his grandchildren Survivors include wife; son, Tim of Kearney; daughters, Kristi Korensky and Katie Ramsey, both of Grand Island; brothers, Tony and Leo, both of Kearney; and sisters, Victoria Applegarth of Kearney, Norma of Grand Island and Maxine Greever of Fort Worth, Texas; also daughter-in-law, Tracey of Kearney; sons-in-law, Dave Korensky and Kirk Ramsey, both of Grand Island; and grandchildren, Dan Korensky, Melissa Korensky, Kirsten Ramsey, Kane Ramsey, Megan Shada and Amanda Shada. Was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
