Mrs. Elizabeth Groome Arthur, 98, of Kings Mountain, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at Kings Mountain Hospital in Kings Mountain. She was born in Guilford County, to Marvin and Lela Whittington Groome. She was wife of James Henrie Arthur. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Groome and Edwin Groome; and three sisters, Erma Knight, Jean Williams and Melba Baggett. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Kings Mountain. She was active in the Women's Club, Bridge Club, and the Thursday Afternoon Book Club. She was noted for her award-winning needle work and rose gardening. She was active in politics, a staunch Democrat and was the registrar for the West Kings Mountain Precinct for many years. She was a dedicated Braves fan and a homemaker. Graveside service: Groometown United Methodist Church Cemetery in Groometown.
