Earl Max Johnson , age 80, of Salt Lake City, UT, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 3, 2006 in Salt Lake City, UT. Earl was born November 11, 1925 in Provo, UT to William Earl Johnson and Thelma Carter. He was drafted into the Marine Corps during his senior year in high school where he served in the South Pacific. He was a personal bodyguard to Admiral Nimitz. He was the Founder of Metropolitan Financial. Earl was a true and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ wherein he held many church positions. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife, LaDonna Thorne Johnson of Salt Lake City, Utah; sons: Craig (Judy), David (Robin), former daughter-in-law Susan Johnson, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill, and son Douglas Earl Johnson. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the staff at Utah State Veterans Home for their kind care and loving efforts. Funeral services for Earl will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Canyon Rim Stake Center, 3051 South 2900 East, Salt Lake City, UT. Friends may call on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, UT and at the Church on Saturday morning from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
