Bio

Sadie F. Linden, 97, of Grand Island, formerly of Litchfield, went home to be with her heavenly father, surrounded by her family, on Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Apfel Funeral Home, with the Rev. Trudy Kenyon Anderson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Litchfield Cemetery. Sadie F. Linden was born Aug. 22, 1919, in rural Custer County, the daughter of Galen and Lucy (Dennis) Ward. She grew up in Custer County, receiving her education in the country schools in Custer County. She was united in marriage to Alva Linden on April 12, 1938, at Kearney. The couple made their home in Buffalo County, later moving to Grand Island in 1972, where she was employed at Delicious Foods for 16 years. She enjoyed reading, spending time in her garden raising flowers, embroidering and sewing. Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Rick Rodenbaugh, Wilma Trotter and LaVonne and Lonnie Cords, all of Grand Island; three sons and daughters-in-law, Delbert and Linda Linden of Marquette, Asher and Irene Linden of Broken Bow, and Stanley and Darlene Linden of Cairo; two stepchildren, Chuck Dice of Grand Island and Michelle Marks of Bassett; 17 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill (Geraldine) Ward, and sister-in-law, Elaine Ward. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alva Linden; sons-in-law, Claire and Bobbie; and a granddaughter, Debbie.
