Bio
Caroline Grimm was born 15th March, 1868, in Schopfloch, Bayern (Bavaria) Germany. Her parents were Heinrich (Georg Heinrich) Grimm and Mary (Anna Maria) Schwarz. Both of them lived their entire lives in Schopfloch. Caroline had five siblings who survived infancy. Three younger brothers immigrated to Omaha Nebraska, as Caroline did; they were Henry, Julius, and Ernest Grimm. Two sisters remained in Germany. Caroline Grimm and Ludwig Grimm probably MARRIED in 1887 in Schopfloch, Bavaria, Germany. Caroline and Ludwig IMMIGRATED to the United States in 1888 on the ship Lahn, arriving in NY on May 4, 1888. The ship's manifest says that Caroline was Ludwig's wife. They arrived with a six month old female baby; the name looks like "Wilhe," possibly an abbreviation of Wilhelmina(?). Caroline Grimm and Ludwig Grimm MARRIED the day after they landed in the U.S., on May 5, 1888, in New York City. Most likely they had to remarry on a technicality in order to enter the United States. By 1900, Caroline and Ludwig ("Louis") had had nine children, according to the 1900 U.S. census, with only four of the children still living at the time. So, in addition to Wilhelmina, they had four other children who had already died. The eight known children (out of twelve): 1. Wilhelmina Grimm B: Nov. 1887 in Schopfloch, Bavaria, Germany. D. before 1900, Omaha. 2. Henry Grimm b: SEP 1889 in Omaha, Nebraska. 3. Mary Grimm b: NOV 1893 in Omaha. 4. Annie Grimm b: APR 1897 in Omaha. 5. Freda Grimm b: NOV 1899 in Omaha. 6.
