HORDVILLE — Patricia “Patti” L. Stevens, 63, of Hordville died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Polk United Methodist Church in Polk, with the Rev. Daniel Spearow officiating. Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Polk and Central City is in charge of arrangements. On March 11, 1953, LeRoy O. and Bette Lou (Fries) Patterson were blessed with the birth of their only daughter, Patricia Lou. She was welcomed home by her three older brothers, Al, Bill and Bob. Patti was born in Loup City and shortly thereafter the family moved to Aurora, where she attended K-12 at the Aurora Public Schools. She graduated with the class of 1971 and attended Kearney State College, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in education and her Master of Science in speech pathology and was an active member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Patti was employed by the ESU 10 and ESU 7 and area schools, where she was very dedicated to the students. She was a member of the Polk United Methodist Church. On Oct. 18, 1984, Patti was united in marriage to Gale Stevens of Hordville. They lived on the family farm in Hordville, where they raised their three children: Kelli, Kendra and Kory. Patti was a very proud mother and grandmother and enjoyed attending school activities and coaching softball. Patti was a faithful Huskers, Denver Broncos and Kansas City Royals fan. Doing for others was important, as were gardening, mowing her yard, cooking meals, canning and enjoying time at the cabin. She was always a “teacher,” not only to her students, but also her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. They all have fond memories of the love and patience Patti showed them when she taught them all how to water ski. The times spent at Twin Lakes are memories her family will cherish forever. She loved attending her grandchildren’s flag football, basketball, soccer and baseball games, dance recitals and church and school programs. The love they had for their “Nana” was very admirable. On Oct. 26, 2016, heaven gained a very special, very loved woman. Her family was proud of her attitude and fight she displayed as she faced her cancer head-on. Patti is survived by her husband, Gale; daughters, Kelli and husband, Dathan Peters, of Central City, Kendra and husband, Jace Hudson, of Polk; son, Kory of Hordville; grandchildren, Colbyn, Maci, Harper and Reid Peters, Conner Hudson and Briella and Kane Stevens; brothers, Al (Dee) Patterson of Lake McConaughy, Bill (Pam) Patterson of Holdrege and Bob (Cheryl) Patterson of Lake McConaughy; brothers-in-law, Garylerd (Mary) Stevens of Hordville and Gary (Jeanne) Stevens of Omaha; sister-in-law, Karen Stevens of Polk; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Bette Patterson, and in-laws, Arlo and Genelle Stevens.
