Bio

Amy "Delora" Qualls Humphreys, age 94, was called home Friday, October 7, 2016, from her earthly home in Clinton, surrounded by family and friends. Her last week was filled with two mile walks, piano lessons, frying okra, and blue ribbon awards from the North Central Arkansas District Fair Association. In September she attended the Mt. Ida High School reunion representing the class of 1941's 75th anniversary. Delora was born in Story, Arkansas on February 13, 1922. During her first year in school she met a young man who carried her lunch bucket and bestowed upon her the endearment of "Snooks". She married her childhood sweetheart and as a military spouse traveled the world. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Leo Humphreys; her son, Randall Gabe Humphreys; her parents, Oscar and Edith Qualls; and two brothers, Willis Qualls and Lonnie Qualls. She is survived by her daughter and cherished son-in-law, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law, sister, three sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Delora was one of eighty-seven first cousins therefore her cousins were and are too numerous to list. Delora loved her Lord and served him faithfully as a lifelong teacher, leader and servant through her church affiliations, the Gideon's Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star. Her devotion to her family was steadfast and exemplary. Our Mimie's wonderful meals, recipes, laughter, stories, counsel, strength, and smiles will be missed. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 13, 2016, in the Clinton United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Thursday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Davis-Smith Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
