Joan Lea Haskovec Walker, 88, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Monday, October 3, 2016. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2016, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. Rosary will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 6, 2016, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m., October 6, 2016, in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at St. Joseph Cemetery. Joan was born in Ennis, Texas, to the late Harvey M. and Gladys G. (Hightower) Toals, Sr. She grew up in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School, class of 1945. Joan married Albert Wesley Haskovec, Sr. on April 13, 1947. After the death of Mr. Haskovec in November of 1983, Joan married Leon Leonard Walker in 1986. Joan and Leon had been classmates in high school. She worked for Southwestern Bell as a phone operator, for Southern Auto and then for Sears for twenty years. She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, SPJST, Mother's Club, KJZT and the Golden Crusaders. She enjoyed dancing, puzzles and ceramics. She lived life to the fullest, with church; family and bingo as her passions. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Albert W. Haskovec, Sr.; and husband of 17 years, Leon Leonard Walker; daughter, Neicylene Vitovsky; and a brother, Harvey M. Toals, Jr. Survivors include her son, Albert Haskovec, Jr.; daughter, Regina Whaley and husband, Wayne, Sr.; grandchildren: Bryan and Evette Vitovsky, Glen and Julie Zabojnk, Vickie and Scott Steinocher, Eric and Gretchen Holliman, Michael and Kari Rounsavall, Amber Haskovec, Wayne and Coutney Whaley, Jr.; 17 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
