Bio

Cousin Jerry was the youngest son of Charles Jan *Fedora Orsak & Frantiska Angeline Horak Orsak. Uncle Charlie & Aunt Francis lived on a farm at Mereta where they raised their six sons & one daughter. Jerry was the first Orsak to graduate from high school and attended Angelo Jr. College. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps. late in World War II, enlisting 20 Nov 1945 at Camp Hood, Kileen, TX. He obtained the rank of staff Sergeant and was discharged 1 Dec 1948. He served in Europe as did several of his brothers & his cousins. Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Air Force Reserves on 1 Jul 1949, retiring 28 Feb 1970 with the rank of Master Sergeant. Jerry worked for San Angelo Electric Service Company until retiring in 1991, then worked until 2012 as a manufacturer's representative covering Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma & Louisiana. Jerry leaves a large family including his wife of 36 years, Ada Loretta Stewart Orsak, who he married 31 August 1979, his sons: Jerry Joe, Jr. of Cypress, TX, Tom Orsak & wife Jeannie of San Angelo, daughter Michelle Leslie Orsak of CA, step-son Rick W. Waters & wife Teresa, and step-daughter Debra Waters Cunningham & husband Ed of San Angelo, grandchildren: Bill Orsak & wife Melissa of Sterling City, Ellen Orsak Shoemaker & husband Robert of San Antonio, Laura Orsak Bibb & husband Derrick of Llano, Seneca Orsak & wife Gina of San Angelo, great-grandchildren: Genesis & Jessica Nelson, Robert Shoemaker III, Braddock & Western Bibb, step-grandchildren: Bradford Fly & wife Mercyla, Ashley & husband Cody Monzingo, Mallory McAlister & husband Justin and great-step grandchildren: Marley Monzingo, Riley McGarry, Abigayle Shelburne, Amory Fly, Kemper Fly and sister-in-law Lillie Orsak of San Angelo. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers George A., Ludwig E., James W., Robert J., Charles G. and sister Angelina Marie Orsak Kuchar. Graveside services are Wednesday, 23 November 2016 in Fairmount Cemetery by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Jerry's grandfather Pavel 'Paul' *Fedora Orsag immigrated to Lavaca Co. TX from Nova Dedina Rosinka, Moravia (Novy Hrozenkov, CZ) leaving Bremmen, Germany on 18 Nov 1873, arriving in New Orleans then Galveston on 12 Dec 1873. Jerry was nine years age when his grandfather died and Jerry was the last Orsak in our family to speak the native Moravian Czech language. (Dobry zivot) *Fedora is the village name that designates a separate Orsak branch in the old village of Novy Hrozenkov, CZ.
