Bio
David Lara Ruiz entered eternal rest on July 14, 2014. He was 85. He was born in Dallas, Tx on October 15, 1928 to Phillip and Antonia Ruiz. David honorably served his country. He entered the United States Air Force and Navy in the early 1950's. David shared his life with his wife of 61 years, Lucille. Together they had 4 children. Family and friends will remember David as being an unbelievably talented artist. His favorite hobby was golf. He enjoyed every aspect of the sport. David will also be remembered as being a devout Catholic. He is predeceased by his parents and son, Phillip Ruiz. He is survived by his wife; sons, David Ben Abraham of Ennis, TX, Dr. Mark Ruiz of Dallas, TX; daughter, Monica Carpenter and husband John of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Stephanie Carpenter and fiancé Edward Warnock, Michael Carpenter, Nasbah Begaye, Kim Ruiz, Harley Ruiz and Harlen Ruiz, 8 grandchildren; brother, Joe Manuel Ruiz of Dallas, TX and sisters, Lydia Ruiz and Carolyn Tirado both of Dallas, TX. The family will accept family and friends at a Visitation at Calvary Hill Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday July 16, 2014 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm with a Rosary to be recited at 5:30 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Calvary Hill North Mausoleum Chapel Thursday July 17, 2014 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
