Kenneth Robert Royer, 73, of DeQuincy died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016 at Grand Cove Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Lake Charles. His cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. Royer was born in DeQuincy. He was a 1960 graduate of DeQuincy High School. He was in the U. S. Army. He worked as a seismologist for Shell Oil until his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alana LeCourt Royer of DeQuincy; sons, Rex Randal Royer and wife Dina of Lake Charles, and Richard “Ricky” Royer of DeQuincy; daughter, Richelle Royer Spears of Lake Charles; brother, Bruce Royer and wife Linda of DeQuincy; seven grandchildren, Kyrie Royer, Landon Levi Royer, Wesley Hardy Royer, Jordan Dale Spears, Tyler Jade Royer, Jacey Morgan Royer, and Zoey Grace Royer; four great-grandchildren, Leigha Renee Britt, Mason Levi Royer, Stella Alana Royer, and Khloe Nevaeh Spears. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jackson Brown Royer and Mae Jewel Lillian Simmons Royer. Visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 25 from 2-6 p.m. with a short service at 4 p.m. at the Oak Street Recreation Center, 509 Oak Street.
