Conrad R. Grimshaw August 26, 1929 - September 22, 2016 Life Legacy Conrad Ross Grimshaw, age 87, died Thursday, September 22, 2016 in the Beaver Valley Hospital Long Term Care. He was born in Los Angeles, California to Earl Grimshaw and Vaun Ross. They moved back to Beaver when he was age three. “Connie,” as he was known by, graduated from Beaver High School and Southern Utah College in Cedar City. He married his high school sweetheart Joann Hutchings in the Manti Temple on August 10, 1950. It was a great love story lasting 66 years. After college, Connie served in the Army in Korea 1950-1951. After his return, he designed and built his own home where they have lived ever since. Connie loved people and served in the community all his life. He owned and operated Beaver Home Furnishings and Sears Catalogue Sales for 20 years. From there Connie built up a successful Appliance Service and Beaver Fire Safety business. Connie was on the first hospital board securing a hospital and doctor. He remodeled the old Legion Hall for a sewing plant and renovated the room below the library for a meeting place, then drew the plans for the first Golf Course Club House. He was instrumental in starting the first Ambulance Service, equipping the first van for transport. He and Joann served as EMT’s for a combined 50 years. Connie remodeled the fire house receiving a special award from the Utah Historical Society. Connie served in the capacity as Fire Chief for 25 years in Beaver. He has been on the Legion Color Guard for 62 years and served on the board of the Utah Independent Bank for 34 years. He also served on the Beaver City Council for 18 years and served as project manager for the pressurized water system. He and Joann served 4 years at the Cove Fort Historical site as missionaries. He served as Scout Master for 8 years training over 18 Eagle Scouts, receiving an award for one of the top Scout Troops in the nation. As a member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers, he organized a crew and they straightened over 700 headstones in the Beaver Cemetery as a humanitarian project. Connie has four children: Konnie Lynn and Clark Davis, Lesa and Gary Nielsen, Gail and Liz Grimshaw, and Sheryl and Lennis Tantee. They have 13 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October, 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Beaver Third Ward Chapel (Beaver, Utah). Viewing will be held at the church on Friday night, Friday, September 30th from 6-8:00 p.m. Viewing will be held Saturday morning, October 1st at the church from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
