*** IN LOVING MEMORY OF *** Norbert Edward Krajewski was born on Thursday; September 23, 1920 in Ashton, Sherman County, Nebraska. He was the son of Toney and Helen (Klein) Krajewski. In 1923 the family moved to a farm north of Brule, and later south of Ogallala when their land was used in the construction of Lake McConaughy. He received his education in Ogallala, graduating from Ogallala High School in 1937. He then attended Business College in Denver; Denver County, Colorado. In 1942 he enlisted in the Navy Air Corps, receiving his wings at Corpus Christi; Nueces County, Texas. In 1943 he began his first assignment as a flight instructor at the Navy Air Field in Ottomwa; Wapello County, Iowa. In 1944 he was stationed at the Naval Air Station at Patuxen River; Anne Arundel County, Maryland, where he was attached to Squadron BR1 Naval Air Transport Service. His service included transporting troops and supplies to various points in the United States, South America and Newfoundland. On Saturday; April 21, 1945 in the Naval Chapel in Patuxen River, Maryland Lt.s.g. Norbert Krajewski married Sancy Reznicek of Washington, District of Columbia, formerly of Pender; Thurston County, Nebraska. After his discharge in November of 1945 Norbert and Sancy returned to the farm seven miles southwest of Ogallala; Keith County, Nebraska. He conducted a farming and cattle operation. In addition, they purchased and operated a fly-in hunting and fishing lodge at Lynn Lake in northern Manitoba, Canada. In 1980 they semi-retired and spent their winters in their home at Arizona City; Pimal County, Arizona. He was a member of Saint Luke's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council # 4979, V.F.W., American Legion, Ogallala Country Club, Rotary Club, Nebraska Wheat Growers and was a life member of the Ogallala Elks Club where he had received the Elk of the Year Award. He was also instrumental in starting the National Guard Unit in Ogallala. Norbert Edward Krajewski, 86, of Ogallala, passed away on Friday; November 17, 2006 at the Ogallala Community Hospital. Those left to mourn his passing are his loving wife, Sancy of Ogallala; five sons, Toney (Barb) Krajewski of Paxton; Keith County, Nebraska. David (Diane) Krajewski of Ogallala, Gary (Diane) Krajewski of Ogallala, Lt. Col. James (Brenda) Krajewski of Burke; Fairfax County, Virginia. Robert (Judy) Krajewski of Ogallala; three daughters, Margaret Fries of Cairo; Hall County, Nebraska. Jeanette Hanson of Wichita, Kan., Susan (Glenn) Behrens of Templeton; Carroll County, Iowa. One sister, Eileen Strong of Mesa; Maricopa County, Arizona. One brother, Milford Krajewski of Ogallala; thirteen grandsons, nine granddaughters, three great-grandsons and nine great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald and a sister, Damasia. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, Nov. 20 at St. Luke's Catholic Church with Father Bryan Ernest as celebrant. Interment was in the Ogallala Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the Keith County Veteran's Organizations and Elks Rites provided by the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 1760. Rosary was recited on Sunday, Nov.19 at St. Luke's Catholic Church. A memorial has been established in his memory.
