Father of Jerry Lynn, Billie Darlene, James Roy, Joe Bob, Chris Lyndel, Kimberly Gay & Linda Carol. He was founder & owner of Hunter's Wood Shop. Hunter GILMER - Services for James Lyndell Hunter, 67, Gilmer, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday in Croley Funeral Home chapel in Gilmer with the Revs. Wilson Welch and J.W. Best officiating. Burial will be in Morris Cemetery near Gilmer. Mr. Hunter died Friday at his residence after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 21, 1923, in Upshur County, and was a lifelong resident of the county, retiring as owner-operator of Hunter's Wood Shop in Gilmer. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6715, the East Texas Mobile Scout Club and Multi State Adventure Club of America. He was preceded in death by a son, James Roy Hunter, in 1955, and a daughter, Linda Carol Hunter, in 1982. Survivors include his wife, Crystel Shaw Hunter, Gilmer; three sons Jerry Hunter, Flint, Joe Bob Hunter and Chris Hunter, both of Gilmer; two daughters, Darlene Barber and Kimberly Keel, both of Gilmer; a brother, Merlin B. Hunter, Shreveport; two sisters, Lorene Brack, Longview, and Melba Rose Neher, Odessa; nine grandchildren; and eight step-grandchilddren. Pallbearers will be B.L. Kennimer, Sonny Hamberlin, Jake Flenniken, Ray Bullard, Deweitt Hill, Ed Kent, Carlton Dacus and Clif Reaves. Honorary pallbearrs will be Lewis HEwitt, James Miller and members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6715. Visitation will be 608 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. If desired, memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
