Bio

Donald Greener, age 47 of Cyclone, passed away Friday, October 5, 2001. Rosary was held at 7 p.m. Monday, October 8 at Cook-Grengross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. Funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cyclone. Donald was born April 11, 1954 in Rosebud, to Walter and Lucille Greener. He lived in the Cyclone area for two years until he and his family moved to Fort Worth. There he began his studies at Carter Park Elementary from grades one through three. He then attended the fourth grade at Holy Name Parochial School, where he graduated in 1968 from the eighth grade. He proceeded to Rosemont Junior High in the ninth grade, and then transferred to finish ninth through twelfth grade at Trimble Technical High School in 1972, where he completed his drafting and welding course, receiving his welding diploma and the Who’s Who honors. In 1970 he began working for Safeway, store No. 353, in Fort Worth. In 1971 he quit Safeway and became employed by the Vann-Roach Cattle Company in Fort Worth. In 1972 he began working for Speed Fab Crete, Inc. in Fort Worth for a short time, and then began working for Clifton Metal Products also in Fort Worth until 1977. During this time he furthered his education in 1976 at Elkins Institute in Dallas, for his radio telephone license. In 1977 he decided to move to Westphalia and began working for Kotrla Electric Company. In 1981 he joined the IBEW-Local 520 in Austin, when he began working for Grimes-Parker Electric, until 1984 where he began working for L.K. Comstock and Company. In 1983, when the Cen-Tex Polka Band became to existence, Don was the drummer and singer. On the special day of May 18, 1985 he married the love of his life, Charlene Svacek. Then he began working for his uncle, Randolph Green. During this time, he attended evening classes at Texas State Technical College in Waco, where he received his certificate of completion in Basic Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating. In 1986 he worked for Hill Electric Company in Austin. In 1987 he was back working for L.K. Comstock and Company when their first pride of their life, their daughter, Gina Marie, was born on February 11, 1987. Soon after her birth, he moved him and his family to Cyclone. Later on in 1987 he began working for Corbin-Dykes Electric Company. From 1988 to 1993 he worked off and on for Hill Electric Company in Austin. During this time, on April 26, 1989, their pride beamed once more with the birth of their son, Gary Wayne. In 1992 he took the Foley Belsaw Correspondence Course in Small Engine Repair. In 1992, with Don’s ambition and knowledge, he established, owned and operated the Cyclone Small Engine Repair Shop. In 1993, he then began to work for Crouch Industries, until his untimely death on October 5, 2001. Don was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cyclone. During his short life, he lived it fully by the many accomplishments he reached. The people he loved and left behind are his wife, Charlene of Cyclone; one daughter, Gina Greener of Cyclone; one son, Gary Greener of Cyclone; his parents, Walter and Lucille Greener of Fort Worth; four brothers, Bill Greener of Pilot Point, Gerald Greener and his wife Melissa of Fort Worth, Randy Greener and his wife Susan of West, and Vernon Greener, Sr. and his wife Carla of Weatherford; two sisters, Kathryn Ward of Seguin and Jean Greener of Forth Worth; his mother-in-law, Rita Svacek of West; five goddaughters, Summer Ward, Tiffany Greener, Kristen Pliscott, Megan Dujka and Dianna Pliscott; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
