Elizabeth "Ruschy" Roschynialski, 91, of Grand Island passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Oct. 11, 2010, with her loving family in attendance. Services will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the family. Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Elizabeth led a full life with her husband of many years, her garden and flowers, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by four daughters and their spouses, Dorothy and Charles Aubushon of Grand Island, Judy and Ralph Mingus of Dannebrog, Gloria and Fred Otradovsky of Grand Island, and Susan and Larry Baillie of St. Paul; grandchildren and stepgrandchildren, Ruth and Tom Jamieson, Chris and Anne Aubushon, Doug and Kelley Aubushon, Patty and Tom Skeie, Sally and Wayne Mingus-Wall, Miranda and John Weeks, and Roy and Lorie Mingus; eight great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister and sister-in-law and special nieces and nephews and extended families. Also, she was a mother substitute to Brenda and Mike Fee. Her husband, Stanley; her parents; one sister; and eight brothers preceded her in death. Elizabeth was born to Andrew and Anna (Krakowski) Barent on April 7, 1919, during a blizzard in Rockville. Before her marriage to Stanley Roschynialski, she attended many a dance with her brothers. She met Stanley at one of these dances. She always said she could always hear Stanley when he got ready to pick her up on a date. Dad had built a race car, which was very loud. He lived over the hill from her parents' farm, and she could hear his engine roar when he started it up. She was united in marriage to Stanley Roschynialski on Aug. 25, 1936, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Farwell. The couple lived in Sherman County and farmed on various farms. They then moved to Paxton, where they farmed, and later moved to Sutherland, where he had an auto repair shop and did remodeling in the area. In 1951, they moved to Grand Island. Then, in 1955, they moved to the west edge of Grand Island and started building and remodeling homes in the Grand Island area. She worked with Stanley in his construction business until he had to retire when he was 60 years old, but she kept herself busy by helping him with his woodworking projects, fishing (and she was the better fisherman), gardening, needlework and canning. After his death, she continued to be active in her garden, made many beautiful counted cross-stitch pictures, did some traveling and hit many a rummage sale. She was proud of her daughters and their children and stepchildren and spouses, and great-grandchildren, and always said she had the best sons-in-law. The Grand Island Independent, Oct. 16, 2010
