Thomas L. Slagle was the son of Leonidas O. and Martha Jane Williams Slagle. MAH 2009 Obituary Thomas L. Slagle The Lawrence Democrat 6 Oct 1905 Thomas L., son of Leonidas O. and Martha J. Slagle was born September 22, 1879. Died July 18th 1901, being 21 years, 9 months and 26 days old. That fatal stroke of lightning that killed Thos. L. Slagel, caused a strong father's frame to tremble, a fond mother's heart to bleed, loving sister's fountains of tears to be broken up, and stalwart brothers were made to wonder why it was so. How soon the bright and fair prospects of a well ordered home can be broken up and everything that looked so promising is forever gone. A young man with a good moral character, with noble ambitions to do and be something in this world is something every father and mother that has such a son is justly proud of. We hope that the friends and associates of the deceased will strive to emulate his virtues, that his life though short and taken away from us just as he entered the arena of life for himself, may not have been taken in vain.
