Bio
Edwin Frank Langer, 91, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016, in Ennis, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2016, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. Rosary will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2016, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary. Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be at 2 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2016, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Father John Dick officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Edwin was born in Ennis, Texas, to the late Willie and Mary (Brown) Langer. He served proudly in the United States Army, 1st Battalion, 11th Infantry, as a Rifleman-Reconn, in the European Theater from March 15, 1943 to February 1, 1946. Edwin was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, a 75 year member of SPJST #25, Ennis, a member of KJT #35, Ennis, and member of the VFW Post 7106, Ennis. He retired from A. Gunthard Company and began farming fulltime. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Emil Langer and Raymond Langer; sister, Dorothy Langer Vitovsky; and great grandson, Corey Shane Steward. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Dorothy Pavlacka Langer; daughters: Linda Edwards, Carolyn Haynes, Barbara Mitchell, and Judy Kudrna; son, Edwin G. Langer and wife, Patty; grandchildren: Wendy Allen, John Bailey, Michelle Mewbourn, Amy Eagle, Melanie Bailey, Erin Banerjee, Daniel Kudrna, Jessica Sturgeon, and Brent Bratcher; great-grandchildren: Krystal Wallace, Justin Bailey, Allexis Bailey, Vernon Bailey, Brooke Bailey, Mia Bailey, Brannon Tennison, Caitlyn Steward, Marissa Frazer, Lauren Bailey, Kayla Bailey, Ethan Friend, Dylan Banerjee, Nathan Bratcher, and Andrew Bratcher; great-great-grandchildren: Kailey Wallace, Kourtlyn Wallace, Aaliyah Armstrong, and Aamina Williams; along with several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
