James "Jim" Weldon Findley, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016 in The Woodlands, Texas of natural causes. He was 90 years old. He was born October 12, 1925 in Bay City, Texas to the late John James and Mittie Elizabeth Brown Findley. He served as a medic in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After the war, he moved to Fort Worth where he graduated from TCU with a degree in psychology. He married Dorothy Elizabeth Matkin in 1950. Most of his work life was in the life and health claim business and he retired from American National Ins. Co. in 1991. He later moved to Tyler where we worked for Express Personnel for several years and made many friends. He served in various churches as a deacon and recently was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Nacogdoches. Services for Mr. Findley will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016 in the Chapel of Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday, one hour prior to service. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Findley; he was also predeceased by a son, James Findley, Jr. and a sister, Doris Corbin. Survivors are a son, Jack Findley and wife, Debbie of The Woodlands; daughter-in-law, Tamra Findley Deardruff of Plano; brother, Johnny Findley; sisters, Lois Isaacs, Linda Steed and Lorri Brown; and grandchildren, Joseph Findley, Erin Findley, Nate Findley, and Jacqueline Styne and husband Beau.
