Bio
David Gene Davis, age 70, passed away on August 18th, 2016 in Pensacola, Florida due to a tough battle with cancer. He was born on August 4th, 1946 in Heavener, Oklahoma to Boyer and Zelma Davis. Along with his siblings Sue (Terry) Brown, Don (Cheryl) Davis, Renetta (Phil) Zanco and Dan (Tanya) Davis. Married on July 1, 1967, to Priscilla Laing Davis. He graduated from Corn Bible Academy in 1965, served in the U.S. Navy for four years, then worked with Gulf Power Crist Steam Plant as a plant operator for 38 years. He loved hunting, fishing and camping, and spending time with family. He was also a long time member of Richards Memorial UMC. He is preceded in death by his parents, Boyer and Zelma Davis, and granddaughter, Brooke Katie-Ann Davis. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Laing Davis of 49 years; daughter, Michelle (Randy) Slade of Pace, FL; son, David (Danyelle) Davis of Pace, FL, and youngest daughter, Paula (Darren) Gillespie of Radcliff, KY. He had 8 grandchildren: Kristen Slade, Chance Gillespie, Cory Slade, Shelby Gillespie, Jonah Gillespie, Paige Davis, Juliann Gillespie, and Joshua Davis. He also has many nieces and nephews. The service will be held at Trahan Family Funeral Home of Pensacola on Monday, August 22nd at 11 a.m. for visitation and 12 noon for the funeral service, with the burial to follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at 1:15 p.m. Officiating will be Reverend Darren Gillespie. Pallbearers will be Lee Pollitt, Curtis Alsobrook, Bruce Rathbun, Chance Gillespie, Cory Slade, Jonah Gillespie. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Covenant Hospice of Pensacola.
