Bio
James Elijah Ellison, 85, of Amherst, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016 in Amherst. He was born September 1, 1930 in Lynn County, Texas to Elijah and Annie Ellison. James married Evelyn Jenkins June 14, 1953 in Hockley County. They moved to Amherst in 1994 from Colorado Springs, Colorado. He loved working in the yard, growing pecans and peaches, and tending to his garden. He also enjoyed old tractors. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict. He was a good husband, father and grandfather. James is survived by his wife Evelyn Ellison, of Amherst; two daughters, Donna Ramirez of Colorado Springs, CO, and Karen Shuler of Cascade, CO; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, Jackie Howell Ellison of Levelland; and a sister, Joy Davis of Austin, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and three sisters. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Meadow Cemetery.
