Bio

Funeral service for Scott Allen Decker, age 77, of Point, will be held Thursday, 2:00 pm, Nov. 12, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Point. Bro. Zachary Honzell will officiate. Interment will follow at Smyrna Cemetery. Mr. Decker passed away Saturday night, in Dallas, at Baylor Scott-White Hospital. He was born Jan. 8, 1938, in Emory, (Smyrna Community), to Elmer and Vannie Leota Smith Decker. He graduated in May 1956 from Emory High School. Later, Mr. Decker married Mary Lee Griffith in Durant, OK, on Oct. 6, 1956, and they were married some 59 years. Scott worked at Jorgensen Steel for over 30 years when he retired to Point, Texas to raise cattle, fish and garden. He was President of the Mesquite Baseball Association and was instrumental in coaching boy’s baseball for many years and followed sports all his life. Pallbearers are Kenneth Brown, Clifford Hukill, Steve Staggs, Chad Smith, Chuck Baldino and Travis Decker Honorary Pallbearers are Gary McAree, Donald McAree , Henry Potts and Russell Tadlock Survivors include: Wife: Mary Decker of Point; 2 Sons: Kenneth Dwain Decker (Rebecca) of Alba; Michael A. Decker (Julie) of Quinlan 4 Sisters: Margie Harvey of Emory; Edith Doudney of Anna; and Lillian "Punk" Hukill of Lindale; and Ann Staggs (Paul) of Balch Springs Grandchildren: Travis Dwain Decker; and Kristen Alyse Decker; Step-grandchildren: 3 Step-great-grandchildren: 2 Numerous other loving family and friends; Preceded in death by: parents; 2 brothers, Jessie Decker and Zollie Brown; and 1 sister, Christine McAree
