Joseph F.Carmichael, 82 year old retired farmer, died at 2:15 a.m. Sunday at his home in Stanford. Death resulted from a stoke of paralysis which he suffered early Friday morning. He had been in ill health for the past two years. Born in Greene county on November 18, 1862 to parents Charles Carmichael and Mary Evans, his brothers and sisters were Mary, Sarah, Lydia,Elizabeth,Martha, Alice and Bethana, brothers Isaac, George, Charles. He is the last member of his family. He had spent his entire life in the vicinity of Stanford. Survivors are his wife: Harriett; a son Banton Carmichael and daughter Lottie Beyers both of Greenfield; two step-daughters Grace Stultz of Stanford and Fannie Wampler of Ellettsville, 14 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. The step-daughter Grace Stultz and her husband William Wesley Stultz, lived at the Carmichael home and took care of the aged couple. Former wife was Lanora Sexson Carmichael she died in 1908, she is buried at the Carmichael Cem. Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at the Carmichael Church and interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Rev David Crick of Spencer will conduct the services. Pallbearers will be Rex and Herbert Beyers, Virgil, Dwight and Bryant Carmichael and Robert Wampler
