Bio

Berthinia Cordelia (CARMICHAEL) MARTINDALE, daughter of Charley and Mary CARMICHAEL, was born in Center Township, Greene County, Indiana, February 14th, 1865. Died at her home in Cincinnati, Indiana, December 16, 1921, aged 56 years 10 months and 2 days. She was one of a family of thirteen children, eight of whom have preceded her in death. Five brothers and sisters survive, they are: Mrs. Lizzie BYERS, of Bloomington, Indiana, Mrs. Martha WEAVER, of Stanford, Indiana; Mrs. Sarah CARMICHAEL of Allerton, Iowa, Mr. George CARMICHAEL, of Carlisle, Indiana, Mr. Joseph CARMICHAEL of Stanford, Indiana. She spent her early life with her parents on the farm near Hobbieville, Indiana. She was united in marriage to George A. MARTINDALE, March 22, 1887. To this happy union was born two children, Curtis and Grace, the daughter, (Grace) CARMICHAEL having preceded her to the promised land. Eight grandchildren, four of whom survive. Della, as she was always known, was a loving and thoughtful mother, a most affectionate and helpful wife. Her entire life was devoted to home, never tiring in her efforts to make home the cheerful place it was. To her home her many friends were ever welcome and her love for others made her loved by all who knew her. She had never associated with any church, but the life she had lived speaks the secrets of a Christian heart.
