Bio

Born in Beiren Germany, he came to this country, to Illinois in 1869, where he married Barbara Kraus, also of Beiren Germany. In 1879 the family moved to a farm near Utica, Nebraska where they lived in a sod house and endured the many hardships of pioneer life. He was a life-long member of the Lutheran faith.
