Robert “Bob” Denton Jaynes of South Houston, Texas passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at the age of 73. He was born on August 26, 1942 in Houston, Texas. Bob graduated from South Houston High School, Class of 1961. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 35 years of service. As a longtime member of South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena, Bob served as a Deacon and regularly volunteered to pick up members who were in care facilities or homebound. When not volunteering his time at church, he enjoyed travelling both in the US and abroad. One of his favorite trips was a cross-country road trip from Houston to Alaska. It was during a trip to Hawaii that Bob discovered plumerias, which he spent many years thereafter growing. They were his labor of love that he didn’t hesitate to give to many family members and friends. Some of his other hobbies included fishing, hunting, making stain glass, and reading. He was a devoted husband and father who loved to spend time with his family. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Lee and Emily Oneda Jaynes, his sister Billie Louise McGinty, his brother Charles Wayne Jaynes and his twin brother John Richard "Dicky" Jaynes. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Gloria Smith Jaynes, daughter Melisa Jamison and husband George, and son Robert Denton "Denny" Jaynes JR. and wife Michelle. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Marcus Jamison and wife Carlie, Kasie Jamison, Randy Jaynes and wife Danyel, Eric Jaynes, and Malyn Jaynes, and his great-grandchildren, Raine Jamison and Nolan Jaynes. Pallbearers are: Denny Jaynes, Rusty and Randy Jaynes, Richard Jaynes, George Parris. Visitation Forest Park East in Webster, Tuesday August 09,2016 6-8PM Funeral is Wednesday August 10,2016 at South Main Baptist 4300 E.Sam Houston, Parkway S. Pasadena, TX. 77505. OUR Pastor Dr.Ron Lyles gave and out standing elegy everyone commented they had never heard a better service and I agree. That evening at the Wednesday night pray meeting he was honored as the Tootsie Roll man. In lieu of flowers, please give to the Deacon Crisis Fund at South Main Baptist Church, Pasadena.
