Barta Feb. 19, 1920 - Dec. 20, 2005 SAN ANTONIO - Services for Ernest A. Barta, 85, of Caldwell are set for 9:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in San Antonio. Burial will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home Chapel in San Antonio. Mr. Barta died Tuesday in his home. He owned a sheet metal business in Bryan. Survivors include his wife, Lillian; a son, Patrick Barta; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Alfred Michalec; a brother, Ted Barta; sister, Dorothy Barta; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Ernest enlisted in the United States Army February 13, 1942 and was discharged September 1, 1943 with the rank of Tec 5 CPL Ernest A. Barta, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Barto of Caldwell, husband of Lillian Vaura. Attended Caldwell School. Entered Army in 1942, trained at Camp Polk, La. and Camp Young, Cal. Served in USA.
