Alaskan Dies; Services Here Thursday Relatives of Vernon Smith, 44, formerly of North Loup have received word of his unexpected death at Spenard, Alaska, while he was unharnessing his dog team. He had not been previously ill. Mr. Smith has been engaged in construction work for the federal government. His death came while plans were being made for the funeral of his father, Arthur Smith, which was held Sunday. Surviving are his wife; three brothers, Paul and Milford of Olympia, Wash.; Harold of Burwell; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Cannon of Rupert Idaho, and Mrs. Barbara Moore of Lincoln. Funeral services will be held Thursday at two o'clock in the Hastings-Pearson Chapel. Burial will be in the Ord Cemetery. The Ord Quiz - Thur, Jan 8 1959, Pg 1, Col 6
